The girl who was nearly named Gwendolyn Chua

Today, I attended my bestest friend's wedding. Seeing her today, I felt she was really happy. And I am really glad that she finally found her happiness. This year, we met on 01.01.2009 to celebrate our 13th year of friendship. Today, we met on 26.12.2009 to celebrate her BIG day.

01.01.2009 - Our Annual Reunion
(From L-R: Ong Yi Chin, Gladys Chua, Eva Voong)

Thinking back, we have been through a lot together, through all the young adolescence years. We had to fight peer pressure, study pressure, pimples, boy troubles and etc etc etc. And it seems, the times spent with her, passed by in a blink. Well, the saying goes, "Time flies when you are having fun" does really apply here. And fun, we really had a lot of them. Laughing through our secondary school days...every day till our stomachs ached and that we continued laughing...without sound..so hard, that our heads moved in sync. We occasionally made fun of ourselves to make others happy, yes...those silly years...and as silly as it sounded, we enjoyed all of it and I'm sure, we've definitely left a mark on those that laughed with us.

How did we meet? We met on the sidewalk of 1 Kempas, during our first day at school, where she had to come to look for a girl named Ai Wen (spelt wrongly by the teacher then), to change class to 1 Merbau. And the first thing she said to me was, "My name is Gladys, spelled G-L-A-D-Y-S". And in my mind, I was secretly thinking, "Yeah, I know that!" :D And this incident, that she will always remember about me was where I scolded her when she asked if I was from a Chinese School. And I had no idea why I did that. Somehow, after that, our bond strengthened just because we were the latest addition to 1 Merbau and that the rest had already found their sitting partner. I guess this is fate and God's plan for us, that we our path shall cross.

Things that I will always miss doing together with her as a teenager:-

- Walking back to her super far Kayu Ara home
- Walking back/take a cab to her Grandma's home
- Eating seafood croissant at Delifrance, Atria, DJ
- Practising calisthenics under the hot sun every single day 1-2 months before Sports Day
- Attending Girl Guides/Rangers activities during weekends...the campfires :D

Oh well, I'm sure there will be more events to come that we shall spend our time together. Till then, this is just a post to share the joy with my good good childhood friend of mine. Lotsa love, Gladys Chua Li-Lin, may God bless you and Terence Ng forever. And forever we shall be the friends that we always are....and that is...my BK friend. Muaks.
